Good times with kids

A month or so ago, the Schwartz clan headed east for an extended family shindig that was just for the ladies. That put Brian and I in the unique position of being in charge of the kids. So what did we do? We shuffled everybody to the backyard and stayed outside all day and we played, played, played.

Uncle Brian and Ellen were good buddies throughout the weekend. They truly do have similar personalities.

We decided setting up the tent would be fun, so Mara and Ellen helped me.

Mara and Annabelle colored in the tent for quite a while.

At dinner time, we fired up the grill and everybody sat outside. The girls love to eat on the patio.

The weekend before that we went to Illinois to see my Grandma Kehrt. It's been a while (way too long) since we've seen her. It was great to visit with her.

This is Grandma at Anita's house. She's taking a well deserved snooze. Bet your a** if I make it to 90 years old, my nap time will be whenever and wherever I damn well please.

The highlight of the trip for the girls was no doubt the pool at the hotel. It was a slow start for Mara. She was worried about being able to touch her feet in the pool, but she overcame her fears fairly quickly and had a great time in the pool.

C'mon Dad! Enough with the camera!

Mommy and Mara.

Mara shortly after overcoming her fears.

Ellen I assure you was not worried about whether or not she could touch.

This is what Mara did when we finally got home. They did pretty darn good in the car, but we were all happy to be home.
