We went to Clear Lake last weekend. Mom had to work on Saturday, but Stacey, Dad, me, and the girls went to the kite festival. It was really cool. The girls had the must fun pelting Daddy and Grampa with snowballs. Had lunch at 7's when we started getting cold. Then went home and waited for Gramma to get home. Had OP Pizza for dinner. It was fabulous. That's just about the best pizza I've had in Iowa. Yes, better than Zoey's. Had to head out early on Sunday morning though. We were expecting bad weather that never came so we wanted to get in front of it. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

I suck at wheelies
Some folks are just good at wheelies. I'm not. Like many before me, I've tried and tried to practice it. I must be missing that balance gene or something. I've fallen on my ass enough times trying too. That could have somehting to do with my ineptness, as the older I get, the more those falls hurt. So the fear of falling maybe makes me skittish. I don't know, but, I'm moving on.

Pretty Boring Around Here
There just ain't a whole lot going on around here. We went to Des Moines this weekend. The girls and Stacey spent some valuable time with Grampa and Gramma S while I attended the Iowa Bike Summit. It's pretty much a bunch of biker folks getting together to talk about how to work better with communities. To get more trails, safer facilities, and better community awareness. That's the short version. I know it seems like a real hippy kinda thing to do, but it was really a good thing to go to for me as I'll likely be taking on a new role as the president of my local mountain biking club. It may not seem like too big of a deal, but I'm pretty sure that between school, work, family, and that, I'll be pretty overwhelmed this year.
One of the fun parts about the weekend though was getting together with biking folks you don't see that often. We went to the RAGBRAI announcement party on Saturday night. It was supposed to cost $30 a head to get in. Michelle, in the pic below with me, was telling us how lame this party was likely to be. We went anyway, luckily we got in free through a side door because Michelle was right. When I think of a RAGBRAI party, I think of debauchery. This was more like a old folks bingo game. Luckily, Michelle and I got enough crappy beer in us to get up the gumption to hijack this tandem and liven up the party a little.

The rest of the night was more fun. We had some drinks and kept it kinda low key.
